Paul Rand (1914-1996) was a pioneer of American graphic design who arrived at his own distinctive visual language via the influence of European avant-garde movements like Cubism, Constructivism and De Stijl. As an art director, teacher, writer, and design consultant for leading companies (including ABC and UPS) he was a major force for designers, educators, and students worldwide.
