A total of about 800 species of the coleopterous family Lucanidae is listed and illustrated in color. Many type specimens or selected materials deposited deposited in overseas museums are also shown.

One genus, 56 species and 54 subspecies are described as new. 68 species are downgraded to subspecies, 3 subspecies are raised to species, and 90 new combinations are established as result of generic unions.
