Iceland's Eyjafjallajökull glacier and volcano made headlines around the world around the globe in spring 2010. Páll Stefánsson, Iceland's most famous photographer took a series of unforgettable photos. Buy this small and beautiful book for yourself or as a gift to a friend.
The first eruption started on March 20, 2010 on Fimmvörduháls. It was a beautiful eruption, far away from everything, but still accessible, and relatively safe for tourist. It lasted less than a month.
Everyone knows that the eruption in Eyjafjallajökull, which started a day after the first one ended, closed down the airspace in the North Atlantic and much of Europe for a few days. In recent days the ash has been much reduced so international flights are now normal again and even domestic flights in Iceland have been undisturbed. One of the problems with eruptions is that they are unpredictable. Most people never get the chance to see one.
In this book Stefánsson shows the eruptions from the air and the ground. He made numerous trips to the eruption sites, by car, snowmobile, helicopter and plane. He saw the lava, the smoke, the ash. Now you can have his photos in the beautiful book 2010 eruptions, Fimmvörduháls/Eyjafjallajökull.
