《胡适英文文存2:中国哲学与思想史》由普林斯顿大学东亚系教授周质平编选胡适自1919年到1962年前后的重要英文论文及演讲27篇，主要包括关于中国历史、文化、哲学、宗教及中西文化关系的研究和介绍，既论述了中国古代哲学史从老子到韩非诸子哲学思想的历史演变，又对自汉至北宋的中古时期哲学（包括董仲舒、王充等）、唐以后近世时期哲学（包括印度哲学、佛教、禅宗的影响和发展、程朱、陆王）作了考察和分析。

胡适（1891—1962），安徽绩溪人。现代著名学者、诗人、历史家、文学家、哲学家、思想家。因提倡文学革命而成为新文化运动的领袖之一。兴趣广泛，著述宏富，在文学、哲学、史学等诸多领域都有开创性的贡献；英文写作、演讲能力俱佳，致力于向西方介绍中国历史文化，影响深远。历任北京大学文学院院长、中国驻美国大使、“中央研究院”院长等职。

周质平，1947年生于上海，1970年毕业于台北东吴大学中文系，1974年获台中东海大学硕士学位，1982年获美国印第安纳大学博士学位。现任普林斯顿大学东亚系教授。
