Carolyn Cartier is Associate Professor and Acting Chair of the Department of Geography at the University of Southern California. Ma of The Chinese Diaspora: Place, Space, Mobility and Identity (Rowman & Littlefiled, 2003). She is currently working on an examination of the changing role of the state in China's administrative re-districting, and an unrelated project on the relationship between avant-garde arts and the political movement in Hong Kong.
